BBA Marks National Aboriginal Day

BBA is proud to support the aboriginal community and will be participating in the Vancouver celebrations this year. The BBA team has carried out many hydropower projects in northern British Columbia, where it had the opportunity to work closely with First Nations representatives.

“BBA recognizes the valuable contributions of First Nations peoples to the Canadian community,” states André Allaire, President of BBA. “We’re pleased to commemorate National Aboriginal Day, an event that focuses on sharing and on the rich heritage of aboriginal communities.”

In the past year, BBA has worked with the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society to present various events for First Nations peoples. BBA also joined the organizing committee for National Aboriginal Day Vancouver 2016, to help with festivity preparation and promotional efforts.

“It is important to honour and respect all First Nations and their distinct cultures, which have been defined by the land and its resources,” says Glen Ichikawa, Hydropower Engineering Expert at BBA.

On June 21, a team of BBA volunteers will be on site to lend a hand to the organizing committee and to host a booth where members will present a model of a mini-power plant.
