BBA Wins Award at the Grands Prix du Génie-Conseil Québécois

BBA won this award for the CO₂ Capture and Recovery in Saint-Félicien project, for which the firm designed the first commercial version of the CO₂ Solutions “industrial lung” at the Resolute Forest Products plant in Saint-Félicien, Québec. It’s a technology that captures CO₂ emissions directly from smokestacks, purifies them using an enzyme similar to one that is found in our respiratory system and then uses them in Les Serres Toundra’s greenhouses to grow cucumbers. The facilities capture nearly 30 Mt of CO₂ per day.

“We’re very proud to have contributed to this ingenious project, which combines both pure and applied sciences,” states André Allaire, President of BBA. “The possibility of recycling air emissions to grow vegetables opens the door to other projects that will help reduce our environmental footprint.”

This marks the seventh time BBA has won an award at the Grands Prix du génie-conseil québécois.
